A structured wiring system is also referred to as a “Smart Home Wiring System”. This part of the system is to distribute, data(Internet), voice, intercom, camera and standard video throughout your home. The video is not high definition video, which is described below.
All wires terminate at a structured wiring cabinet. The structured wiring cabinet typically is 42 inches tall, lockable and the door is flush with the wall. New Way follows the TIA570 standard, with some enhancements.

The cabinet is powered and typically houses the Internet modem, router, intercoms and amplifiers for the cable system. The phone and data connections are all terminated into appropriate patch panels as shown below. All cables are identified as to room location and use. You will rarely require access to this cabinet but it is recommended that it be installed inside the home as a typically houses electronics.

Each of the cables from this cabinet terminates in color-coordinated wall plates in each room. Each wall plate has the appropriate connector for voice, data or video. All cross connections and connections to the outside world are done in the structured wiring cabinet which allows room to room communications or room to outside world connections.

Another part of a Smart Home Wiring system is prewiring for audio and high definition video. This part of the system runs the wires that are needed for surround sound, whole home audio and high definition TV.

Surround sound wiring consists of pre-wiring for 5 (or 7) main speakers - left, right, center, surround left and right. Additionally you may elect to wire for rear effect speakers also. You also need to pre wire two sub-woofers.
The exact location of the speakers may alter from you original location, so we take that into account when we do the pre-wire.
